ME Vs ITP

I was diagnosed with ITP 5 days ago.

Everyone just said I bruised easily.

last Saturday I noticed some unexplained bruising on my arms and legs.

Today my platelets were at 40,000 when normal is between 150,000 and 300,000.

ITP stands for idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura.

"Idiopathic" means that the cause is unknown.

"Thrombocytopenic" means the blood doesn't have enough platelets.

"Purpura" means a person has excessive bruising.

The cause of ITP is not known.

People with ITP form antibodies that destroy their blood platelets.

I'm really scared because I don't like all of the needle pokes.

My Mom and Dad are very worried but try not to show it.(me too ^^)

Tomorrow we will find out what to do next.

  1. Nicki,

I am sorry about this. I have no medical knowledge at all but I am sure you will find the way to cure this.

I used to have some blood decease as well. Back then, my white blood cells were too low. Which means I could be infected easily. I didn't do anything much for the cure but started to live healthy; eating right and doing lots of exercises. Above all, I wasn't worried about it.

I guess the last thing you need right now is another worriment. Our minds are funny but yet very powerful. Please believe that you will be fine either by yourself or the doctor will find the right treatment. They can even clone people nowadays, so there's no need to worry about healing you.

    Stay strong
